Do you have any references that have seen your dogs working and outside of working?

All of our dogs go to Hilltop Animal Hospital, Eastview Animal Wellness or Rodgers Veterinary Services and have been seen by them for years now. You are more than welcome to call any of them at any time to get their evaluations on our dogs.

We also have Hilltop, Eastview or Rogers do ALL our vaccines for our puppies and have them examined by a veterinarian before leaving us and gets sent home with the puppy!

Dr. Landes also works for St. Francis Animal Hospital in Augusta, Ga doing dog chiropractic & acupuncture work and doing xrays for OFA and SV.

I also work as a Narcotics & Explosives K9 Handler (over 4 years) & Pet Dog Trainer for Quality K9 Concepts for over 6 years which is a dog training company and my boss has evaluated all of our breeding / non breeding dogs and can give you any information you would like to know.

What age do you breed your dogs at?

We do NOT nor will ever breed our dogs under the age of 2 years of age.
We do this to ensure that we truly know the dog we are breeding, temperament, drives, off switch ect.
Many dogs do not fully mature until 2-3 years old, this also gives us more time with our dogs to do even more health testing to ensure all our breeding stock are worthy of being bred.

Do you make buyers feed a certain food / supplements?

We do require the puppy eats kibble dog food.
Any puppy fed not a balanced kibble diet will void our health contract.
We recommend asking your vet for a nutritional specialist recommendation, some are located at local holistic pet stores. They can guide you on what kibble fits best for your puppy.

We believe in working with the new owner helping guide them to the best puppy possible for their desires and lifestyle ensuring that the buyer is happy along with the puppy going into the best home possible.
*We of course take gender, color, coat length ect. into consideration, BUT we do not sell / place puppies based on gender, color ect., we help place the best puppy into the best home.*

We DO all Breed specific health testing and then above and beyond that.
All of our personal breeding dogs along with Hips, Elbows & DM testing (Breed recommended testing) we also do, OFA Patella, Eyes, Cardiac and Dentition (Dentition IF raised from a puppy, not bought as an adult as many working dogs have worn down or lost teeth due to working for several years) & Embark testing done.

DSC_3806.jpg

Do you have an interview process for potential homes?

We DO require an application with each potential buyer before they place a deposit down on a puppy.
We go over goals, desires, gender preferences in this application process. We encourage everyone to view our website on how we raise our puppies and the protocols we take, as well as how the puppies will be transported if said puppy is not picked up from us directly.

DSC_6050.jpg

What states / countries do you sell puppies to?

We DO sell puppies to all 50 states of the USA along with Canada.
We encourage every buyer that if they can, to make the trip out to us and meet us in person as well as the dam of the litter, but we understand that that is not possible for many people so we do have alternatives like ground transport.
We CAN fly your puppy to you if that is the only way for that puppy to get there (typically Hawaii / AlaskaSome parts of Canda)), but we prefer ground transport if possible.
We do work with a ground transporting company and can offer ground transport for an additional fee.
ALL transporting to buyer is at the buyer's expense.

Do you sell puppies with Full AKC Breeding Rights?

We DO NOT sell ALL puppies on AKC Full Registration.

We DO sell all puppies on Limited AKC registration (which means you DO NOT  have breedings rights on this dog)

(*Special cases - unless sold on a co own for plans for conformation)

However, once your dog has Hips and Elbows x rayed and submitted to the SV (preferred) or OFA, is over 2 years old and then receives passing scores with whatever organization you choose AND at least 1 working title or certification in any venue is achieved, then you can apply for AKC full breeding rights for your dog.

- Dogs with genetic or temperament faults will not be given the option for upgrading to full.

We encourage owners to be wise about their breeding choices and to try and uphold the same standards our kennel holds for our dogs.

The vision to truly better the breed.

For buyers who do not ever wish to breed, we do require that bitches stay intact until 18 months of age and male dogs preferably 24 months of age.

*WoodWolf Kennels reserves the right to refuse breeding rights*

DSC_4402.jpg

Do you have a Spay & Neuter Contract?

We DO have a policy that you cannot spay or neuter before the age of 18 months

This is because the growth plates on dogs do not close until around that time and we believe the mental maturity of our dogs is very important, so leaving them intact to mature will ultimately give you a better dog.

We recommend 18 months old for females and 24 months for males, however 18 months is the minimum age for spay / neuter when you buy one of our dogs.

We do NOT have a mandatory spay / neuter policy, but we encourage all our puppy buyers to spay and neuter after the age of 18 months if breeding is never a desire.

DSC_3758.jpg

What health checks get done before we get our puppy?

We DO the first 1-2 rounds of shots, fecal testings (Coccidia & Giardia also checked for on the fecal float), Microchip, along with getting a wellness health check from our vet all before they go to their new homes.
We raise our puppies through the puppy culture curriculum and we require keeping them here until at least 8 weeks of age and we can keep the puppy up until 10 weeks of age if the owner prefers for no extra charge.
We truly do put our hearts into our program and we are always a text or a call away if anything you or any buyer needs.
Quality is our most important concern over quantity.

DSC_1068.jpg

Do you recommend vaccinating our puppy?

We DO recommend vaccinating your dogs and listening to your local vet on what vaccines are needed.
We personally vaccinate extra yearly for Lyme and Rattlesnakes.
We recommend flea and tick prevention along with heartworm.
The brands we recommend, Heart Guard, ProHeart, Revolution and Simparica Trio (All our puppies before leaving will have a dose of Simparica Trio to ensure as healthy of puppies as possible).
Preventative Care is the BEST care.

DSC_3552.jpg

When should we find a vet office to start going to?

We DO recommend finding a good local vet office BEFORE getting your puppy.
Call the office and ask to speak with the vet personally, even ask for a tour of the facility if they have time / when is the best time to come and tour it.
Ask the vet what their beliefs are on Spay / Neuter, any vet that says “The earlier the better” we do not recommend.
Ask the vet if they have have a large number of working dogs / german shepherd breeds that come into their office
Ask the vet what their muzzle policies are, I personally will not go to a vet office who without my consent or knowledge force muzzles my dogs who are not showing any signs of aggression.
Ask the Vet if they take walk ins or appointment only (I recommend Vet offices that take walk ins because life can happen and you never know)
Go to their Facebook page ( if they have one ) and look at the recommendations and see what others have said.
Choosing a vet office is a VERY important task because once you find the right one you will never want to go anywhere else, they even become like family.
