I have a puppy from her and would recommend her as a breeder. Transparent about faults in her dogs. Available for hand holding and guidance as Carolyn Woodward herself is a dog trainer, detection k9 handler, confo handler, and working dog handler. I have been extremely happy with my dog, breeder relationship, and the kennel as a whole.
As someone who also has a pup from her; from her own male kohnen, I recommend her all the time.
She’s the kind of person we need in this world. Truthful, honest, blunt, straightforward and the person you want in your corner.
She even offered to watch Choji, a male from her C litter, for a whole week and that’s the kind of person/breeder I want to have. I will not discuss anything about it( unless Carolyn gives me the a okay to do so )
But she knew what I wanted from the start. I told her what I was looking for in a working line and she put me on a waitlist for a kohnen puppy. That was a dream of mine for years to have my own mini kohnen.
She knew we wanted a boy and we got matched with the first male of kohnen. We went to meet the pups at 3 weeks and also the rest of her dogs and loved it.
As someone who is very close to Carolyn and her kennel I can tell you that she is the kindest, most honest breeder you could ask for. She will do anything she can for not only her dogs but their owners too. I am lucky enough to be a part of a lot of things she does at woodwolf kennels and see first hand the blood sweat and tears that go into her dogs and making sure they have the best care. She is not only our breeder and dog trainer but a mentor to my daughter.
I can personally testify that Carolyn’s dogs are the creme de la creme. She takes fantastic care of them and photos do not them justice. She does any and all breed appropriate testing/certifications and is selective throughout the breeding process. On top of everything else she is honest, reasonable, and a plethora of information.
I’ve known Carolyn for a few years now and have personally met and trained at the same facility a few times with her. Her dogs have super solid temperaments, she is actively working them with knowledgeable/reputable handlers, and she does more health testing than most GSD breeders.
Her kennel is new, so I’d obviously like to see how these recent breedings develop as far as working ability, temperament, and overall drive but she’s doing a fantastic job just starting out. Breeding is freaking HARD.
As for Kohnen, he’s a good dog. Whether you would personally breed him is a matter of opinion, and it really doesn’t matter. He has more qualifications and titles than a lot of the dogs I’ve seen currently producing, and as far as temperament, he absolutely has a lot to offer the breed. She’s transparent about his lineage/pedigree, and if people choose to purchase from his line so what? He’s healthy, he’s titled, and he has traits needed in the breed.
I’ve seen very few breeders that match the quality of the woodwolf dogs. All of her adult dogs and puppies are *insanely* gorgeous and smart. I would literally die for a woodwolf pup

I’ve spoken to Carolyn several times, she’s very knowledgeable and puts so much work into her dogs and I think that shows in the quality of her offspring.

I haven’t researched her super hardcore, but i know some of my friends will be obtaining prospects. one of my friends that does IGP speaks VERY highly of carolyn and adores her. i like what i see.
I got stranded at a club day 2 hours away from home (long story) and Carolyn helped me get back home. There are a lot of snakes in the dog world but Carolyn is genuinely honest and one of the few people that can tell you the truth without sugarcoating things. She is one of the few people I know that isn't just a "dog sports enthusiast" but actually handles her dog in working venues as well as the show ring. She is incredibly transparent, honest, and has an amazing team of people that have been mentoring her and showing her the way. If I ever needed a dog trainer in my area again, she is the one I would go to. If I ever wanted a german shepherd, she is the first person I would put in an application for. With Carolyn you are not only getting a puppy, you're getting support for that puppy's lifetime from someone who lives and breathes dogs.

Not everyone will share the same priorities but the ethics that go into those tough decisions you have to live with, that's what matters.
I considered her program heavily but ended up going with another mainly due to timing. Carolyn was extremely knowledgeable, kind, and professional when she received my app, definitely someone I would get a dog from.
